Autobits Motorstore beloved building is officially up For Sale

The image shows a street view of a commercial area. There's a row of storefronts with various business signs visible. The most prominent sign is a blue "FOR SALE" sign indicating that a business is relocating. It mentions "CPS Commercial" as the contact for inquiries. Other visible business signs include "MAHLE" and what appears to be part of a "SUPLEX" sign. There are also some other partially visible logos and signs that are not fully legible in the image. The buildings appear to be typical British-style shop fronts with a white upper facade and large windows at street level. There's a streetlamp visible, and some festive bunting or flags strung across the street, suggesting it might be decorated for an event or holiday. The sidewalk is paved with large stone tiles, and part of a parked car is visible on the left side of the image. The sky is mostly blue with some white clouds, indicating it was likely a pleasant day when the photo was taken. Overall, the image depicts a typical small town or suburban commercial street that appears to be undergoing some changes with at least one business up for sale or relocating.

After over 40 incredible years on Cathedral Road, our beloved building is officially up for sale as we prepare for an ambitious relocation to Gillis Business Park.

For over four decades, our family-run business, known by many names, including ‘Autobits’ ‘Seamie’s’ ‘McDonagh’s and, in recent years, Autobits Motorstore, has been a steadfast presence in the heart of Armagh.

The story of Autobits began in 1980 with the late Seamie McDonagh, who faced the early challenges of establishing a motor parts store in Armagh. With the invaluable help of his trusted friend, the late Francie McCusker, the business began to flourish.  Francie’s dedication and friendship were pivotal to shaping Autobits’ success.

From our original location on Cathedral Road, where the Mulberry Bistro now stands, to our current home, we’ve always remained committed to our community.  Autobits Motorstore has been more than just a business. It’s been a cornerstone of our community, growing and evolving to meet the needs of our customers.

For Marty, who grew up immersed in the business alongside his dad, Seamie, mum, Teresa, sister Paula, brother Ciaran, and now his wife Mairead, Autobits has been more than just a job; it’s a lifelong journey.

Like most businesses, Autobits Motorstore has had to adapt to changing climates and economic challenges. Resilience was undoubtedly required in navigating through tough times, with historical challenges like the Troubles in the early eighties and COVID-19 amongst the toughest to navigate.

After taking the reins from his father, Marty has ensured that the legacy of Autobits continues to thrive while embracing growth and innovation. This move marks an exciting new phase in our journey.

Thank you for your unwavering support over the years.  While we may be changing locations, our commitment to quality service and community spirit remains stronger than ever.

As we prepare for our upcoming move to Gillis Business Park, we honour the legacy of those who built the business and look forward to writing the next chapter in our story.

Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey with us!
